Instant Pot Vegetable Daliya

Try this healthy weight loss Indian breakfast recipe of Vegetable Daliya (also known as Broken Wheat or Cracked Wheat), made in an Instant Pot.

Ingredients
  

  • 1 cup Daliya also known as broken wheat or cracked wheat
  • 2 3/4 cups Water
  • 1 tbsp Oil use any neutral flavored vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp Cumin seeds (Jeera)
  • 6-8 Curry leaves (Kadi patta) torn
  • 2 Green chilies slit
  • 1/2 cup Onion chopped
  • 1 inch Ginger piece chopped
  • 1/4 cup Carrots diced
  • 1/4 cup Green peas fresh or frozen
  • 1/4 tsp Haldi (Turmeric powder)
  • Salt to taste
  • 1 tbsp Lemon Juice
  • 2 tbsp Cilantro (Dhaniya/Coriander leaves) chopped

Instructions
 

  • Set Instant Pot to Saute mode. Add oil, jeera, curry leaves, green chilies, ginger, and mix. Add onion and mix again for a minute.
  • Add carrots, green peas, and stir them into the mixture. Add salt and turmeric powder. Mix again.
  • Click the Cancel button on Instant Pot. Add Daliya (broken wheat) and mix. Add water and give it a final stir (Make sure to deglaze the pan).
  • Close the lid and set the pressure valve to Sealing position. Set the Instant Pot (IP) on high pressure for 6 minutes.
  • Once cooking is complete, let the pressure release naturally for around 10 minutes.
  • Push the pressure valve to Venting position very carefully. Open the lid and fluff the prepared Dalia with a fork.
  • Add lemon juice and garnish with chopped coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot as is, or with yogurt or your favorite chutney!
