Who doesn’t love to eat peanut butter? Everyone does! Just kidding, there are some souls who actually can’t tolerate it’s taste at all. Well, for each, their own. If you love having peanut butter, this quick and easy healthy homemade peanut butter recipe will definitely be a hit in your house.
The Background
This nut better has a very strong flavor associated with it (at least I find the flavor a bit strong). I have always been wanting to try out many recipes which use Peanut Butter (especially some cookies and Thai dishes). But every time I had to skip making them because it was never on our grocery shopping list, since none of us are actually big fans of PB Sandwiches. So, the only option available was to make Peanut Butter on my own.
I don’t know why I had been delaying making this for so long. It is so so simple to make, you use just 2 ingredients to make it, and it hardly takes few minutes (4 minutes to be exact for me) to get converted into the rich, creamy goodness. This recipe of mine is adapted from Pinch Of Yum!
The easiest use of peanut butter is in sandwiches, just spread a layer of peanut butter between two slices of bread, and you are ready with a super-fast breakfast. On days when you don’t have much time in hand, this proves to be an ideal grab-and-go breakfast option, especially for those who love Peanut Butter Sandwiches, a win-win option for them.
The major usage of this nut butter in my house is in Thai recipes. Lot of them call for peanut butter as one of the important ingredients, so it is an advantage. Think of homemade Panang Curry, prepared with homemade Peanut Butter, yummy heaven!
The peanut butter can be made using raw peanuts or already roasted peanuts as well (I have used salted roasted peanuts here). If you don’t have roasted peanuts with you, you can just dry roast them in a pan/skillet for around 5-10 minutes on low-medium flame.
How to make Peanut Butter in a Cuisinart food processor?
I have made peanut butter in the Food Processor, but you can use blender or mixer, whatever is available with you. I have always been a fan of Cuisinart Products and their 14-Cup Food Processor that I have is no exception.
You need to add a bit of salt to the Peanut Butter if you are using unsalted peanuts. But I am using Roasted and Salted Peanuts here, so this recipe does not use any salt. But do add salt if you are using unsalted peanuts.
The peanuts go through different stages of consistency once added to the food processor. After every minute of pulsing the peanuts, you will notice a new consistency reached. It starts from being crumbly to incredibly smooth. Here I have shown the stages of peanut butter after every one minute of pulse. It took me total of 4 minutes of pulsing to reach the final stage.
The key is to keep scraping the sides of the food processor bowl and keeping a check till the desired consistency of healthy homemade peanut butter is reached. You will be able to tell once the peanut butter is ready. Just a bit of patience, and you get the right texture.
The peanut butter, once done, can be transferred to an air-tight glass jar, and can be stored at room temperature (can easily last for a month or two) or, in the refrigerator if you want it to last for around 4-6 months (but if you use it often, then trust me it hardly lasts for a few days).
