Kesar Badam Overnight Oats | With Saffron and Almond Milk
These Indian inspired Kesar Badam Overnight Oats are made with the goodness of rolled oats, almond milk, yogurt, kesar (saffron strands), ground cardamom, chopped almonds and chia seeds. This one is a healthy, clean eating meal prep breakfast, which hardly takes any time to prepare. Perfect for busy mornings!

This Kesar Badam Overnight Oats recipe is a perfect meal prep breakfast, with a hint of Indian flavors. I call it a dessert for breakfast. It reminds us of the popular Indian dessert, Falooda ice cream. You will definitely walk down the memory lane of the delicious Indian ice cream flavor in each bite.
You can just eat these overnight oats right out of the jar or in a bowl. This recipe is also a perfect candidate for Indian festive breakfast ideas, like, for Diwali, Holi or other Indian festivals. It is even perfect as a holiday breakfast for Christmas or new year!
Ingredients & Substitutes
- Rolled Oats – Use Certified gluten free oats if looking for a gluten free oats option.
- Almond Milk – You can use milk of your choice, but Almond milk (Badam milk) would taste amazing!
- Yogurt – You can use any of the whole milk yogurt or greek yogurt.
- Honey – Maple syrup acts as an excellent substitute of honey.
- Chopped Almonds & Pistachios – Top with these nuts to get the perfect feeling of Indian dessert for breakfast. You can also use chopped cashews.
- Ground Cardamom – Adds a lovely Indian flavor to the meal prep recipe. If you don’t like the flavor of cardamom, feel free to replace it with ground cinnamon.
- Chia seeds – Provide nutritious value and impart a creamy texture to the oats.
- Kesar (Saffron strands) – The flavor that makes this recipe unique. No substitutes for this!
How to make Indian Style Kesar Badam Overnight Oats
- In a 12 ounce (~ 350 ml) glass jar, add all the ingredients.
- Mix well and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, enjoy the overnight oats straight from the jar, or in a bowl.
- Optionally, add toppings of your choice. I used chopped almonds and chopped pistachios.

Kesar Badam Overnight Oats
Ingredients
- 1/2 cup Rolled Oats I used old fashioned rolled oats by Quaker Oats
- 1/2 cup Almond Milk You can use milk of your choice, almond milk would taste amazing for this recipe.
- 1/4 cup Yogurt
- 1/2 tbsp Honey You can also substitute Maple Syrup with this.
- 1/4 tsp Ground Cardamom (Elaichi powder)
- 1/2 tbsp Chia seeds
- 2 tbsp Chopped Almonds for topping
- Kesar (Saffron strands) a pinch
- 1 tbsp Chopped Pistachios optional, for topping
Instructions
- In a 12 ounce (~ 350 ml) glass jar, add all the ingredients.
- Mix well and refrigerate overnight.
- In the morning, enjoy the overnight oats straight from the jar, or in a bowl.

Notes
- Other toppings that go well with the Kesar Badam Overnight Oats are dried rose petals, nuts like chopped cashews, dried fruits such as raisins or dried cranberries etc.
- A 12 ounce (12 oz) wide mouthed glass jar works great for one serving of overnight oats, especially if you want to eat right out of jar in the morning. It is enough to hold the overnight oats, and also has space for some additional toppings.
